Fair Shot: Rethinking Inequality and How We Earn by Chris Hughes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Getting 500 Million USD out of 2% shares is a fair shot. But it is not about this fair shot. It is about re-thinking our definition of work and fighting poverty due to a basic income with no strings attached. It is about the impact of digitalization which creates as many of jobs which have been lost out of it. But these jobs are mostly precarious ones, providing no stability to families. It is about unequal societies where 1% of the rich people are owning 90% of wealth and it is getting worse. Cost of living for basic needs like education, healthcare, elderly people care or even housing are rising, but the wages are not. How can we get out of this situation providing freedom for everyone and better access to education and healthcare? A UBI of 500$ per month could be the solution and Chris Hughes provides many reasons to do so and he is very passionate about it. I really liked the book and I am supportive on this idea.
